The thrift store is raising money to help the families of East Texas teenagers who were killed in a crash

BIG SANDY, Texas – It’s been five days since the car crash that killed East Texas teenagers Boston Wilson and Carter Snider over the weekend.

The disaster shook the Big Sandy and Hawkins communities and now a Big Sandy business is standing next to one of the affected families.

“In our hearts, you know we wanted to come back, to be able to help his family,” said Sunny View Nutrition co-owner Mallory Koenig.

Boston and Carter were killed in a two-car crash last weekend in Houston County. Koenig and many others in the Big Sandy community are coming to help in any way they can.

“They want to be able to give back. That’s the kind of reason we do, we go into business. Of course to help people, but also to help the community whenever needed,” Koenig said.

Sunny View’s mission is to bring a sense of wellness to the community while spreading beauty through giving. That recipe is part of their delicious new drink that they’ve added to Boston’s honor roll.

“We wanted something red, something sweet. So, it’s a delicious healthy combination. It’s got strawberries, it’s got watermelon, it’s got cherry, it’s got a tropical punch, it’s definitely a red, something it’s fun and exciting,” Koenig. said.

All week, they have been collecting donations to help the Wilson family and their needs.

“We wanted to show Boston how much she is loved, what a great community Big Sandy is, how much everyone has supported her. Karen and I are definitely here at Sunny View. We hope you come out and come see us. and show Boston love and support,” Koenig said.

Boston’s impact on Big Sandy is what makes businesses like Sunny View step in and support this family during this difficult time.

“He was very popular at school. You can definitely see in the post, you know the language in the community that you know it’s a difficult time because he is, someone’s best friend, someone’s brother, someone’s partner the class, the classmate, you know the student,” Koenig said.

On Friday 6:30 am to 4 pm, a percentage of all Sunny View sales will go back to a Boston family to help with their needs. Refuel Nutrition & Energy in Hawkins is also hosting a fundraiser Friday for Boston and Carter. A portion of the sale will go to help families.
